The role
As an Android developer, you will join Viaplay's mission to further maintain and develop our platform along with leading the work for Android TV. You will be involved in the whole development lifecycle and the everyday work will consist of development, design, complexity assessment, test, deployment and much more.

As an Android Developer, you will join a cross-functional team and deliver engineering solutions aligned with technical and product long-term visions. The team delivers clear goals based on our customer journey and is fully autonomous in how to create the best solutions to reach their goals. In other words, if you are excited about great audio- and video quality - and want to bring that to our millions of customers - This is the role for you!

Some of your daily tasks will include:

Code Development: Write, test, and deploy high-quality code according to team mission

Collaboration: Engage in daily stand-ups and actively participate in team discussions to share progress and insights

Code Review: Review and provide constructive feedback on team members' code to maintain code quality and consistency

Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends and technologies to enhance skills and contribute to team growth

TV Streaming Devices: Collaborate with the team to explore and integrate new features or improvements related to TV streaming devices

Technical Debt Reduction: Proactively address and reduce technical debt by optimizing code, refactoring when necessary, and implementing best practices

What we’re looking for 
We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that’s why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you’ll have at least some experience in the following: 

- Solving complex problems on Android platforms

- Building apps that are live on Google Play

- Working with modern Android development (Kotlin, Jetpack libraries)

- Basic understanding of Jetpack compose

It’s a bonus if you have: 

- Experience working with Android TV or the Leanback library

- Experience working on Chromecast experience and open-source setup boxes

- Commitment to CI, automation and other efficient workflow-oriented practices

- Experience from media, streaming or advertisement
